EigenLayer Testnet Update: How to Prepare for Holesky Deprecation & New Sepolia and Hoodi UIs

The Ethereum Foundation has confirmed that the Holesky Testnet will sunset no later than September 2025, with some services potentially deprecated even earlier.

Eigen Labs would like to urge our users to start transitioning away from Holesky and begin using our Sepolia and Hoodi Testnets, both of which now have updated UIs. We’ll continue sharing updates about testnets and timelines in our Protocol Updates Forum channel as we shift toward Sepolia and Hoodi.

How to Transition?

You can download the separate contracts for the Sepolia and Hoodi Testnets as outlined below.

Sepolia - Where to Get Started:

  1. Sepolia Testnet Contracts: Can be found here.
  2. Namespace: testnet-sepolia
  3. UI Here

Who Can Use Sepolia:

Sepolia Testnet is recommended for AVS and app developers to facilitate rapid development iterations and integration testing. Sepolia is not recommended for restaker testing as it does not support EigenPods.

Why Use Sepolia:

Sepolia is the go-to dapp development environment on Ethereum. It provides a streamlined environment for quick testing cycles, enabling efficient troubleshooting and accelerated development timelines for AVSs and integrating customers. Sepolia is home to many existing apps and rollups, with an EigenLayer deployment helping test AVSs integrations. EigenLayer believes Sepolia will accelerate AVSs development and drive demand

Hoodi - Where to Get Started:

  1. Hoodi Testnet Contracts: Can be found here.
  2. Namespace: testnet-hoodi
  3. UI Here

Who Can Use Hoodi:

Hoodi provides a platform for AVS developers, Liquid Restaking Tokens (LRTs), Operators, and integrators to test upcoming features of the EigenLayer protocol and end-to-end interactions between Operators, AVSs, and Ethereum. This network supports EigenPods due to its open validator set.

Why Use Hoodi:

Hoodi allows early access to new functionalities, which enables proactive issue identification and fosters a collaborative development atmosphere.
